The Southwest Council of Agribusiness announced today that the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will be speaking at their annual meeting in Lamesa this Friday.  The Secretary is coming as a special guest of U.S. House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway, who will also be attending the annual meeting.

SWCA has moved their annual meeting to BE Implement (1605 U.S. Hwy 87) in Lamesa, beginning at 9:30 am.  SWCA is hoping to have a good attendance – the new venue is capable of accommodating 350 for lunch, and they want to pack the facility.  If you are able to attend, please do so!

  • 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.-  Policy Panels including top economists (Dr. Joe Outlaw of Texas A&M and Dr. Darren Hudson of Texas Tech) and key Congressional Staff (Senate Ag Chief of Staff James Glueck and House Ag Chief Economist Bart Fischer) who are working on the next farm bill
